Was excited to be able to purchase my daughter an affordable and reliable laptop for xmas. Today Show dropped the ball on this one!

I find that 'deal' mentioned on the Today show is rarely a deal. I wonder how much of a kcickback they get or if there is some quidproquo for the free ad -how many of us were suckered into visiting Staples.com to look for the asus computer? - to create a hype. One would think that they would have some intern double-checking and ad price.

Maybe they had the resident lushes Hoda and Kthy Lee, checking prices~ NBC you need to clean up your act!

I think Hoda and Kathy Lee would have gotten the prices right. They impress me as savvy shoppers.

Yeah, I noticed the lack of a vendor for the camera. Hey, NBC, are you going to match the prices you advertised for these products?. I also noticed there has been no reply from NBC to any posts in this thread.

Just another reason to not watch the Today Show anymore.

            Reply#36 - Mon Nov 26, 2012 10:44 AM EST

Unbelievable!! This is how accurate your reporting is? It looks like it's purposeful when you don't even include the vendor on the camera deal. Today u need to make this right or trust is lost.

I also searched for the Sony camera and the ASUS laptop deal and couldn't find either one. The Today Show is my favorite morning show, but I am very disappointed in the inaccurate reporting of their so-called expert. It's hard to believe that the producers would allow such misinformation to be broadcast. It does make you wonder what else they report on that is incorrect. Just a suggestion for the future...you might want to consider spending a little more time on your research before misleading the public.

I wonder how much NBC gets for product plaecement on their show. How many people were suckered into searching staples site? Of course the deal was not quite such a deal $190 off, but all the same it did generate traffic to staples site.

NBC, I'm looking for a job. If you hire me I will NOT misreport or misrepresent products. Of course if thier is an advertising department that might expect me to be unethical than I am not intersted in the job.

Have been searching all morning for the Sony WX70. PLEASE respond to your viewers and let us know where to find this deal!! #TodayShow #NataliMorris

Shame on you TODAY for shoddy reporting. Your cyber Monday piece was both incomplete and factually incorrect. I watched it three times to confirm I didn't hear the prices wrong. Besides not mentioning or listing the details on the camera and laptop, your "expert" clearly misstated the prices on both. I have been a loyal viewer for over 30 years and I have had it. Your reporting is inaccurate, your interviews are lame, and the Toyota concert series is trending towards inappropriate content. Airing a correction is the least you could do, but I don't expect to see one. I'm honestly ready to give up and switch to Good Morning America, or better yet, switch the TV off altogether!

Yeah, the "Deal" correspondent should be FIRED. Way to get my hopes up on the laptop, only to have my heart broken. I know that no one on NBC likes to fact check , but seriously how hard is it too look on the staples web site before reporting.

Very disappointed in laptop deal also. The Today Show should make this deal available and pay the difference for us!!

This is at least the second year in a row they made mistakes. Last year over half of the items they mentioned were already sold out before they even mentioned them on TV. They have to remember.....Cyber Monday starts at 12:01 am and many people buy up all of the deals before the morning news shows start. How nice of the Today show to edit out their mistakes for the web video segment. They should at least make a public appology and admit their mistakes.

So disappointed! The laptop deal was not as promoted by the "Today" show. The price that the Today show quoted "230.00" is actually the discounted amount. So disappointed by the "Today" show for their false advertising and poor reporting. I was going to get this for my daughter for school. I'll have to start a new search and hope that I haven't missed out, on another deal at some other site' with all the time I took trying to figure out why the price on the computer didnt match. By the way, I am on Central Time, so the "Today" show had an hour to fix their mistake on the price of this computer, before it was broadcast on Central Time, and they failed to do so.

If TODAY can't get a simple story like this right, how often do they screw up on other stories? What a bunch of circle jerking a**holes.

You should always check out the products you want to buy with a price comparison site like Often you will find much better prices than the "great" deal you found randomly.

You should always use a price comparison site like before buying online. Often you will realize your "great" deal can easily be beat by other online stores.

Who in the world does the Today show employ that gives such terrible information. Like all the others here, I ran to my computer to find the Sony camera and the Asus laptop only to discover the information was totally wrong!!! After searching (wasting an hour looking) for both I learned what others did in that the prices given were completely incorrect and misleading. No source was given for the Sony camera so all of us were looking like crazy trying to find it. Maybe it is $70 off, but the price is certainly NOT $70.00. Nor was the laptop the price stated, again that was the savings - NOT THE PRICE. Really Today Show - you are supposed to be the best. This should have never happened! Another seriously disappointed viewer!

Yep, BIG PROBLEM with NBC's Cyber Monday reporting!! No Sony camera, Staples acted as if I was trying to steal from them -- think I'll skip NBC's "great buys" reports from now on & go to hard print advertisements & internet websites! It would be great if NBC would back up their reports (or mouths)???? Oh, & I recorded the program on my DVR -- watched it several times -- no deleting or redacting that!

Think I'll stick to hard copy of sales advertisements or internet websites -- definitely don't trust any of NBC's "great buy" reporting ever again. It would be nice if NBC put their money where their reporting (or mouths) is/are?? I recorded this on my DVR & listened to it several times -- so their is no way to say I may not have heard it correctly or to have the segment redacted from todays show streaming!!!!!

I am getting tired of the mistakes on the Today Show. There are alot of loyal viewers that can easily change the channel to Good Morning America. Let's see if the Today producers make the laptop and camera deals they showed on air available to their loyal supporters.

You are not too bright are you? Today show cannot make shopping deals, they are a crappy news/talk show, not a retailer.

NewEgg is taking $70 dollars off list of $119. Every other website has $199 as the list price. I think the Today Show and NewEgg are playing games with the viewers.

I spent over an hour searching sites for the Sony camera - saw some deals on other sites and passed them by. When I realized this deal didn't exist, I went back to the other cyber deals and they were sold out - so no camera at all. The Today show should issue a retraction and offer a discount to the viewers they misled.
