The 2012 White House holiday card, starring Bo, was designed by Iowa artist Larassa Kabel.
An artist from Iowa designed the official 2012 greeting, which features the Obamas' Portuguese water dog traipsing through the snowy lawn of the White House.
Larassa Kabel, the artist whose image was chosen, submitted her picture in September after the White House invited artists to offer their work for consideration.
"My mom was so happy," Kabel told the Des Moines Register. "She's always told me, 'Oh, Larassa, you should do pet portraits.'"

Bo-rack on the White House Christmas--oops, I mean "Holiday"--card?? Personally, I'd rather see him in the Oval Office as well. He couldn't do any worse, and he works for doggie treats.
I didn't vote for Obama, but I think it's a cute card. Remember everyone.... we are all in this together. If our country goes down, we all will go down with it !! Disagree if you think you should, but do it in a civilized manner - and this goes for both sides of the political spectrum.
I was not or am not an Obama supporter, but have to say that is a beautiful dog, the card is gorgeous. I understand putting holiday on a card from a public servant since he represents each and every american. Not all are of the christian faith, so lets not get all in a tizzy over this.
I couldn't care less about the Obama's or their ugly dog. We need to stop punishing success in this country and get our fiscal house in order.

I find it interesting that Barack Obama's dog is named Bo. President Obama's initials are BO, coincidence or did he on purposely name the dog after himself?
Why not Bo. He fits right in. Wash D.C. and the white house are going to the dogs anyway, along with how they are ruining the whole country.
What some of you who are complaining about "Happy Holidays" seem to forget is that Obama is the President to ALL people in the US and not all of us are Christians. He should represent everyone... not just those who celebrate Christmas at this time of year. And, as someone else has pointed out, Bush sent out Happy Holidays cards and I doubt any of you complained about that. So please, get over yourselves.
First, Bush included Bible verses in his cards so it was clear the holiday (holy day) he was refering to was Christmas. Second, a lot of people did in fact complain about the lack of the word Christmas. I for one don't really care either way. I am a Christian and celebrate Christmas this time of year. I say Merry Christmas and send Christmas cards. If a Jewish friend of mine sent me a Hanukah card, I would be happy to accept that. Or a Muslim sent me a Ramadan card, ditto. Or a Wiccan sent a Winter Solstice card, ditto. Using the word Christmas has no bearing on my salvation and doesn't effect me in any way. President Obama says he is a Christian which means the holiday he celebrates this time of year is Christmas so I don't understand why he doesn't say "Merry Christmas?" Plus Christmas is a national holiday and none of the other holidays people celebrate this time of year are. But like I said earlier, it really doesn't matter.

Oh my! You guys are blasting each other, wasting all that energy, blaming the right or the left for Christmas cards being called holiday cards. Obama and his family did not write this article, it was written by Amy Diluna, a liberal news media agitator. And once again, she succeeded in her goal of pissing people off. I'm 65, and it's been a Christmas card here in the USA since I was old enough to remember. WTF has changed to make it a holiday card. And you folks who don't want to call it a Christmas card are members of the group that are trying to destroy the morals of our country. Go ply your wares in, say, Australia! Woops, sorry, they would kick your ass out!!

i would like to see a show called" a day in the life of bo" my first thought was what a lucky dog. then i wonder if the girls actually get to play much with him or if there is someone whose job it is to look after him. does he have his own secret service agent? is there a designated pooper scooper to keep the white house lawn clean? does he sleep in the girls room or a kennel? is he allowed to roam the white house? probably not- might bite or slobber on a prime minister or two.does the chef fix his food or does he get iams or something? remember john-john under the presidents desk? does bo get to lay at the presidents feet in the oval office? inquiring minds want to know?

Perfect card for the holidays! As a Christian, I have always like the fact that God included animals at the birth of Jesus.
Where's the other Bo on the card and the Merry Christmas, unbelievable that he actually missed a photo op. Probably too busy with his grand standing on the "fiscal cliff" issue while deflecting and distracting from his Benghazi Failure.

Just some info for you Obama freaks here, did you know that the Whitehouse is paying $100,000 of TAXPAYER money to some professional dog handler to babysit Bo !!!!! Also, the Obama's are costing $1.4 BILLION a year for all their vacations and other extravigant luxuries!
Actually, the Obamas pay for THEIR vacations and "extravagant luxuries." Is it really their fault that 50 people have to tag along with them wherever they go?
