Who knew a holiday gift exchange could be fun and painful at the same time?
Al, Savannah, Matt and Natalie grabbed a seat Friday morning to give each other presents in a Yankee swap. The anchors had a $25 limit to work with, and their picks (particularly Savannah’s) offered big surprises.
Al opened first, revealing a bottle of wine and a cover to keep it cold.
Savannah went next, unfolding a blanket complete with the anchors’ faces on it.
Matt enthusiastically reached next, not realizing that Savannah had wrapped a cactus in tissue paper. (Note to gift wrappers: Do not wrap a cactus without adding a festive WARNING label.)
After Natalie opened a scratch box and notebook, the anchors picked which of the gifts they wanted most. Al got his wine cooler and Twinkies back.
Fans immediately took to Twitter to react to the swap:
"I want the twinkies and a band-aid.." hahah @todayshow

Savannah, slightly unfazed by Matt’s pain, took the hazardous plant.
“A plant almost impossible to kill,” she said. “This is perfect for me.”

Happy Holidays, and the gift exchange is great, BUT, you have to decide on a trade BEFORE you open a gift, not once you've seen it!
Yes, Happy Holidays. I agree with above. When playing that gave you are supposed to choose wether you will open a new gift or steal from someone BEFORE you open a gift. It makes the game competitive. We play this game every Christmas with my entire extended family when we get together for a day and eat, talk, play games and end with this one!! We are very competitive and In Memory of my Grandfather, I play as he did, Very vicious, growling, snarling, gritting my teeth, seething, etc. as I review each opened gift and pretend to maybe steel it before moving on or maybe taking it. It brings much laughter and joy to everyone but, is quite serious too. ;) You can only steal 1 gift 3 times in our game including the person who originally opened it, 3rd owner is the keeper. Enjoy.
